Participate in a Study

Every day, researchers across Canada work to make primary health care better, more accessible, more effective, and more patient-centered. Whether you’re a patient, a caregiver, or someone with lived experience in the health system, your voice and experience matter.

Why Participate?

When you take part in a health research study, you help answer important questions about care and health outcomes that affect people like you.

Your participation may:

  • Help improve care in your community
  • Contribute to better treatments or services
  • Support patient voices in how research is designed and delivered

All studies follow strict ethical guidelines to protect your safety and privacy.

What to Expect

Each study is a little different, but here’s what typically happens when you participate:

  • You’ll receive clear information about the purpose of the study and what’s involved.
  • You can ask questions and take time to decide if it’s right for you.
  • You’ll sign a consent form if you choose to participate.
  • Your involvement might include surveys, interviews, or sharing feedback. Some studies may involve reviewing your medical records (with permission).
  • You can stop participating at any time. Your care won’t be affected.

*Participation is always voluntary.
